I started in Preston Components in October 2004 as a Temporary Labourer just after leaving school. While performing this role my interest in Engineering and the parts produced from the machines in the factory grew intently. After several months I was offered an apprenticeship which I enthusiastically accepted. I spent the first 6 months between training school and college learning engineering basics and Health & Safety. The remainder of my 4 year apprenticeship was based in the factory learning the machines and how to manufacture and repair different parts (ie shafts, sprockets, washers, etc) as well as completing an NC in college and Modern Apprenticeship qualifications. In August 2009 I completed my Apprenticeship and have stayed with the company as a time served Turner. Every day is a new experience and the company support me in my continued development with ongoing in house and external training.
